I had such a great time at Ed Week last year that I decided to go again this year. This time was harder though because our school district changed the start date of school. So, school was in the second week when I took off. Anthony took the week off work and played mom and dad for the week. He knocked out the morning routine, the nighttime routine and everything in between all by himself. Way to go Anthony. You're amazing.

On the way there we tried to chase the eclipse. It was so cloudy. But, we were ready for the minute the clouds broke.
Not cool. Not cool at all.
We settled for watching it on my phone while we drove. It was pretty awesome even through the internet.
Anthony sent me this later that night. Don't believe everything you see! Vegas didn't get to see any of the eclipse because of the clouds. Photoshop to the rescue.
We stopped in Cedar City to check out the quilt display. We had heard there was a quilt of my mom's favorite pioneer story, The Red Shawl.
It is a beautiful quilt. The detail is so awesome.
Did you know I went to SUU for half of my freshman year? I didn't like it at all. I enjoyed my musical experience, but I didn't like my job and didn't make any friends. I transferred to UNLV and worked at Metro Pizza and then Marie Callendar's for the rest of college. I enjoyed Vegas and UNLV so much more. There are so many blessings that came from moving back home. But, I was a T-Bird for a minute.
Back to the eclipse. This is a screen shot from my phone while watching a news feed. This moment, when the light burst out from behind, was amazing to watch! I can see why so many people traveled to be in the line of totality. It was so neat.
There was a little break in the clouds so we pulled off to check it out. A few others had the same idea. We saw nothin'.
We wanted to the clouds to burn off so bad! They didn't.
When there was finally a small break for a few seconds, I was about to sneak a peak while driving. Not the safest driving situation! I'd hold the glasses in place, look at the road for 9 seconds and look up through the glasses for 1 second. I was able to see a little bit here and there. It was so cool.

Finally, a break in the clouds. This will embarrass my mom, but it was hilarious.
We stopped for gas and to check for a clearing one more time and we came across this couple. They were packing up in their car and I noticed they didn't have solar glasses. I came and offered them mine and the husband's reply was, "Oh we have something better!"
His brother-in-law had made this cool glass of sorts that could be used to look at the sun. He was some sort of scientist. It was pretty awesome. The clouds broke fora minute and it was amazing.
Back at home Anthony was faking it. Vegas, just like southern Utah had clouds, clouds and more clouds. The only way to see the eclipse was to photo shop it. I'm glad those glasses got good use.
Back to Ed Week. We arrived, did all the typical Provo things to do and enjoyed 4 days of wonderful classes.
We toured the new addition to the MTC. This is one of the chapels.
The mission president wall is pretty cool. The Footes are in our stake. They are serving in Georgia. It takes a lot of service to run the mission program!

The art in the MTC is so spectacular. It's just wall-to-wall painting after beautiful painting.
Brad Wilcox is one of my favorites. I went to all of his classes, youth and adult. He is such a good speaker with a strong testimony that shines through everything he does. He got promoted to the Marriott Center this year, and he was behind a barricade so to speak, so I wasn't able to take a picture with him. I'm sure he knew his biggest fan was there.
This building was so cool. It's the Tanner building. You enter in the middle and can go up or down. There is a cool theater in the bottom. This is where T.C. Christensen held his classes where he talked about making his movies. It was cool to hear some insights on movies like The Cokeville Miracle, Testaments, 17 Miracles and a few others.
It was fun to meet TC Christensen and tell him how much we enjoy his films. He is a great guy. His classes were fantastic. You had to get there quick though because they filled up right away!
I usually run into Oscar at Ed Week and this year was no exception. Oscar has known me pretty much since I was born. He was my dad's best friend.
It was fun to spend a few days with my mom and Ann with little to nothing to do besides enjoy wonderfully spiritual talks and insights, walk around BYU's beautiful campus and go to dinner each night.
It was a relaxing week. It was just what I needed. A special thanks to my Aunt Debbie who, even though she couldn't attend this year, allowed us to stay at her home. Until next year!
