School started a little early this year. It made for a shorter summer by 2 weeks. But, I am excited that the kids will get out before Memorial Day in 2018. We've got grades 8, 5, 3, 2 and Pre-K this year. Pre-K is for Levi. He attends at the same school as the other kids. His school is 2.5 hours 4 days a week. He is my first one to do Pre-K and we're anticipating a great experience. You can view their first-day photo shoot here.
Here is Anthony with the kids during back-to-school blessings the night before school started. Sweet Cora whispered to her dad right before her blessing, "Can you bless me with good grades?" Cora struggles with reading, and while it is coming along, the other subjects are heavily effected. Anthony thought I told her to ask for some help. I didn't. She is such a sweet girl who knows the power that can come from asking for help. She knows Heavenly Father can help her with school. This will be a great year for Cora.
Everyone laid out their clothes the night before. I remember doing this as a kid. It is so exciting to start a new school.
Bradley's shirt, and his pretty much all of his "new" school clothes came from his cousin Coulson. Coulson just left for his mission and gave Bradley a bunch of t-shirts. Bradley and Coulson are best cousins and I think this is a great way for Bradley to stay connected to Coulson while he is gone. Incidentally, Conley wore one of Marshall's shirts for his first day of school. They are also best cousins. I'd like to thank the Harris family for making my back-to-school shopping just a little easier.

Ready for Pre-K! He was so so so excited.
Here is Conley with his teacher on day one. Conley is in a portable this year. He has a few friends from last year in his class and one friend from our church. Conley is such a good boy. I know his teacher is going to love him.
Jude loved saying goodbye to Jamison. She is heading into her first day of 5th grade. Time to rule the school! Jamison will go back and forth between two teachers for 5th grade. The goal with that set-up is to transition the students into the middle school routine of having several different teachers.
Cora is sad that she didn't get the teacher that she wanted. I even went so far as to request a teacher. But, for some reason the request wasn't granted. I am sad, especially coming from such a great 1st grade teacher, but I hope her experience will be a good one.
Bradley waved goodbye to me as he entered his school for the last first day of middle school. He has had nothing but wonderful teachers at this school and I know 8th grade will be the best yet. He is excited to walk the 8th grade hallway.
And then there was one! Jude and I area all alone for 10 hours a week! I don't know what we're going to do with ourselves! Actually, as soon as we drop off the kids each day, we go to the gym, back home for my shower and pretty much run back out the door to get Levi. Going to the gym first thing has been my routine for about a year and a half. Now, Levi gets to go to school instead of the gym park now and it really is about the same for me. It is fun to have Jude alone for a short while each day.

And, just like that, they were back home! Day one was a great success for all of the kids. They are off to another wonderful school year.
